Its mid-March here in the mountains, and we’re about two weeks into the Russian invasion of Ukraine. But, we are not a news site at Tub to Table. Here, we are just an indoor gardening site. So…as much as I would love to forge a path to world peace here, I’ll have to be satisfied talking about whirled peas. Which we have! Peas are back in the indoor garden!

Indoor Garden Fall Update
It’s October in the Rockies and the leaves have gone gold and are about to drop. The kids are thinking about trick-or-treating, football is on tv…and anything we’ve been trying to grow outside is absolute toast. Dead. Done. Over.
The mornings are brisk now with frost on the windshields. Snow is starting to creep down and settle in to more than just the tops of the mountains. Around our little ski town, everyone is getting ready for the lifts to start turning.
So, obviously, this is a most pleasant time to appreciate one’s indoor garden…

Notes from the Tub Garden
I end almost every day with a quick trip into my garden, just to tell it goodnight. I don’t need shoes or slippers, or even pants, because it’s inside. I can garden all night with plenty of light and no creepy spiders, because it’s inside. And I never need a jacket or sunscreen or bug spray, because it’s inside. Just as the rest of the world is getting ready for spring and “real” outdoor gardening, I also am spending more time outdoors during the day and less in my inside garden. But at night, when the kids are in bed and I actually have time to garden, I remember why this garden is so cool, because it’s inside.

Indoor Survival Garden
When the COVID-19 crisis hit our town, it hit hard and fast due to all the international traffic we get from the ski resorts. We weren’t sure if we were going to be able to get fresh vegetables and all of the sudden my indoor garden seemed like the best idea I’d ever had.
